GREENCASTLE, IN - Wittenberg Field Hockey tallied an important North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) win at DePauw Saturday afternoon, as the Tigers earned an impressive 3-1 victory. The win keeps Wittenberg's spotless record intact as the Tigers improved to 8-0 on the season and 5-0 in NCAC play, and it was Wittenberg's first win over DePauw since the 2018 season.

DePauw took the early advantage, scoring in the first period and giving the host Tigers the 1-0 lead over Witt. However, the second period proved to be advantageous for Wittenberg as the Tiger offense heated up. Sophomore Maddy Krasnow (Bexley, OH/Bexley) found the back of the cage off an assist from freshman Jamie Triolo (Haskell, NJ/Lakeland Regional), to knot the match at one apiece.

Heading into the break, Devyn Groves (La Grange, KY/Oldham County Senior) continued her stellar offensive season as she gave Wittenberg a 2-1 lead off an assist from Lucy Ripepi (Lakewood, OH/Magnificat). The goal was Groves' ninth of the season.

Both Tiger squads battled without denting the scoreboard for most of the third and fourth periods before Tiger senior Katie Webber (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) was able to seal the win for Wittenberg as she scored late in the fourth period to help propel Witt to the two-goal victory.

Goalkeeper Caitlin Archdeacon (Saratoga, CA/Westmont) anchored Wittenberg's exceptional defensive efforts, as she recorded 16 saves in the contest, facing a total of 26 shots. Also of note, Wittenberg benefited from a pair of crucial defensive saves in the game, one from Triolo and the other from Shannon Csordos (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield).

The Tigers have a quick turnaround, as they return home on Sunday, October 20 to face another tough NCAC competitor, the Kenyon Owls. The match is set to start 1 p.m. at Edwards-Maurer Field at Wittenberg Stadium, and the game will serve as Wittenberg's Heart Disease Awareness game.
