Tigers Stifling Defense Leads to Another Shutout Win

Springfield, OH-The Tiger Field Hockey team took on the Transylvania Pioneers for their sixth conference game of the season. Wittenberg game away with their sixth shoutout of the season as well, coming away with a 3-0 win. 

In the first quarter, both teams were scoreless, despite 12 shots from the Tigers. In the second, Emmy Kuijten scored on an assist from Katie Webber. At half, the Tigers had the 1-0 lead. They came out fast to start the second half, with Ebony Wyse scoring about ten minutes in. Through 3 quarters, the Wittenberg defense had not allowed a single shot from the Pioneers. In the fourth, the Tigers extended the lead to three when Maddy Krasnow found the back of the net from a Lucy Ripepi assist. 

Leaders-Maddy Krasnow and Meike Kwaaitaal lead the team in shots with 6, and Krasnow had 5 that came on goal. Webber and Ripepi each tallied an assist and Izzy Thompson saved the only Transylvania shot of the night. 

Notables-The Tigers held the Pioneers without a shot through three quarters and outshot them 23-1. Wittenberg also led in penalty corners, 13-3. All three goalies got time as well, with Caitlin Archdeacon getting the majority of the time.
