Hurguy Collects Ten Saves in Fall to Earlham

Springfield, OH- The Tigers stepped on Edwards-Maurer Field for the home opener of the 2021 season against the Earlham Quakers. Wittenberg, who is came off of a loss, looked to improve their season record to 5-2. The Red & White have competed against Earlham 66 times in the past and have an overall record of 57-5-4 against the Quakers. After a deadlock three periods, Earlham was able to put three points on the board for a 3-0 final score, giving Wittenberg a now 4-3 record on the season.

Wittenberg was able to get through Quaker defense three times with shots on goal and were able to draw three penalty corners. In goal for the Tigers was junior, Emma Hurguy, with ten saves on the night, facing thirteen shots.

NCAC Stats Leaders- Regan Mazzulli and Allison Ormsby are in a four-way tie for second in the conference for assists with two each. Mazzulli, Ormsby, and Katie Webber all sit in the top 10 in the NCAC for goals with a combined nine. Regan Mazzulli and Allison Ormsby are also both tied number four in the conference for points with eight each. Emma Hurguy sits at a .682 save percentage on the season.

NCAA Stats- Wittenberg, as a team, is tied at 34 in Division III for penalty corners with 54 and averaging nine per game. Freshman, Shannon Csordos, is tied for 12th in defensive saves with two. (All NCAC and NCAA statistics are based prior to tonight's match-up against Earlham)

Wittenberg's only other losses on the season are to Centre College who is ranked number one in the Great Lakes Region and Denison who sits at number two for the region.

The Tigers will be back on the road for another conference match-up this season on the 25th against Allegheny. Game time is 11AM.
