Field Hockey Drop In Overtime

Springfield, OH- The Tigers were under the lights on Edwards-Maurer Field for a midweek game against the DePauw Tigers. The 8-7 DePauw team would be a threat with their fast paced movement and competitiveness. Wittenberg was up to the challenge and began chipping away. Wittenberg put up a good fight but fell in overtime with a score of 2-1.

Sofi Hess was able to get the Tigers started with an assist from Megan Niswonger in under the first two minutes of play, Hess's first goal of the season. Both teams continued to battle and went into the half with Wittenberg leading 1-0.

Wittenberg led the game in shots and shots on goal. Wittenberg defense kept DePauw to only two shots on goal. DePauw was able to get free in the fourth quarter to tie the game 1-1 and were able to take the game into overtime. DePauw was able to make a break in overtime and bring the score to 2-1.

Up Next- Tigers will be on the road for their next conference game against the Gators of Allegheny College. Wittenberg will play at 12 PM on Saturday, October 26th.
