
Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg field hockey team got back on the winning track, taking down the Yeowomen of Oberlin College 7-1 on Wednesday evening from Edwards-Maurer Field. The Tigers would blow past the Yeowomen in the second half behind a Flora Van den Borne hat-trick.
Game Breakdown
The Tigers were the first to strike, as Blaine Donnelly converted on the feed from Van den Borne in the 5th minute of action. Oberlin would match the Wittenberg goal with one of their own, scoring seven minutes later to bring things back to even at 1-1. Allison Ormsby would put the Tigers back on top, slipping past the Oberlin defense and beating the keeper in the one-on-one situation, giving Wittenberg the 2-1 advantage. Wittenberg would have no problem scoring in the second half, as Van den Borne would begin her venture to a second-half hat-trick, finding the back of the Yeowomen's cage in the 36th minute and again in the 51st. Donnelly would score her second goal of the evening, converting on the assist from Kennedy Malcolm extending the Tiger lead out to 5-1. Van den borne would complete the hat trick in the 57th minute, scoring her sixth goal of the season. Wittenberg would cap their scoring off in the 58th minute of action as Isabella Wagner found Lilye Morrison for the final Tiger goal of the game.

Wittenberg would lead the shot count 24-2 on the night. The Tigers held an advantage in the penalty corner category 11-3. While the Yeowomen were held to just two shots with only one on goal, Allie Purvis and Kate Liebeskind combined for a 70-minute shutout of Oberlin.
