Field Hockey Falls To DePauw In Final Moments 3-2

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg University field hockey team fell to NCAC rival DePauw on Saturday morning 3-2. Wittenberg would host DePauw for their annual Code Red game at Edwards-Maurer Field.

Game Breakdown

Wittenberg took a 1-0 advantage into the intermission, as Blaine Donnelly put the home Tigers on the board first in the 8th minute of action. Wittenberg would add to their lead coming out of the break with an unassisted goal by Allison Ormsby in the 46th minute of the game, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead over DePauw. With just over 20-minutes remaining, the visiting Tigers had some fight left in the tank, as DePauw would tally two goals within two minutes of each other to knot the game at 2-2. DePauw would put the go-ahead goal in at the 66th minute, taking the game 3-2. 

By The Numbers

DePauw would lead the shot count on the day, taking 16 shots to Wittenberg's 10. It was a narrow margin in the penalty corner category as DePauw would lead the tally 8 to 6. Allie Purvis came up with five saves for the Tigers against eight shots on goal in 70-minutes in the cage for Wittenberg.
