Wittenberg Completes Season Sweep Of DePauw

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg field hockey team shut out the visiting Tigers of DePauw University Thursday night, ending the game with a final score of 3-0. Starting off the first half, Wittenberg's Channa Visseren tallied the first goal of the evening, coming off the assist from Isabella Wagner. The second half of the game only pushed the Tigers farther ahead with two goals coming over the final thirty-five minutes of action. There was much to celebrate from Edwards-Maurer Field on Thursday night, starting with "Dutch Day" honoring Visseren and Veerle van der Plas before the game for their contributions to the Wittenberg field hockey program this season. Wittenberg played in front of a packed house, as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee put on their CODE RED event for this rivalry fueled showdown. This win puts the Wittenberg field hockey team at 12-5 overall on this season and 9-4 in North Coast Atlantic Conference action.

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • Audrey Coler slotted the second Tiger goal in the 54th minute of action.
  • Visseren would send Wittenberg right back on the attack, scoring her second goal of the game just a minute after Coler, coming off of the Riley Trexler assist.
  • Wittenberg controlled the game from start to finish taking 12 shots to DePauw's nine.
