Rick Meeks joined Wittenberg's football coaching staff in 2025 as a volunteer. Meeks is a teacher at nearby Shawnee High School, where he previously served as the head football coach for 22 seasons.

Meeks is serving as an offensive assistant and the coach of the tight ends position group for the Tiger coaching staff. He arrives at Wittenberg as the coach with the most wins in Shawnee High School history after compiling a 152-94 overall record and 19 postseason victories over the span of 12 playoff appearances. The program won five Central Buckeye Conference championships (2004, 2005, 2010, 2011 and 2023), and Shawnee advanced to the Division III state championship game in 2011, falling to Youngstown Cardinal Mooney 21-14. Meeks also led the Braves to the regional finals in 2005, 2009, and 2020.

Before returning to his high school alma mater in 2000 as the team's offensive coordinator, Meeks served as an assistant coach at Fairborn High School and Kenton Ridge High School. Meeks is a 1992 Wittenberg graduate, and he joins his son, T.J., a running back and a member of the class of 2028, in the Tiger football program.
