Allan Moore

Allan Moore joined the Wittenberg football coaching staff in March 2023 as the team's defensive coordinator.

In his first season at Wittenberg, he led a defense that included three All-North Coast Athletic Conference selections led by the NCAC Newcomer of the Year in linebacker Tyre Smith.

Moore came to Wittenberg after spending 20 years at Otterbein University in Westerville from March 2003 to February 2023. He served multiple roles at Otterbein, the latest of which was as associate head coach from 2019 to 2023. He also served as tight ends coach, wide receivers coach, special teams coordinator, recruiting coordinator and defensive coordinator during his time with the Cardinals.

While at Otterbein, Moore guided some of the top defensive units in the Ohio Athletic Conference, including a 2012 group that led the league in turnover margin and finished second in total defense and sacks. The Cardinals went 8-2 that season, holding six opponents under 14 points. That group featured the Paul Hoernemann Award winner for the OAC's best defensive lineman in All-American Pat Seesholtz.

In 2010, he coached the Lee Tressel Award winner for the OAC's best defensive back and an All-American in safety DJ Jones as well as the OAC leader in interceptions in cornerback Anthony Korpieski as part of five All-Conference players on defense.

Moore also coached All-American safety Fred Hargrove, who led the OAC in tackles and interceptions in 2017. Hargrove ranked seventh nationally in interceptions that year and was the OAC Lee Tressel Award winner. Otterbein also had the OAC's second-leading tackler that year in Austin Jones.

Also at Otterbein, Moore coached three OAC Defensive Player of the Year honorees and helped lead the Cardinals to their first national ranking and appearance in the NCAA Division III Playoffs, doing so in 2008. The Cardinals were nationally ranked in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012, climbing as high as No. 7.

Moore's highlights as special teams coordinator included leading his unit to a No. 1 ranking in the OAC and No. 12 national ranking in net punting in 2019.

Prior to his time at Otterbein, Moore coached football at Northmor High School in Galion, first as defensive coordinator from 1998 to 2000 and then as head coach from 2000 to 2003. He also taught health and physical education classes and assisted in wrestling and track and field.

Moore is a graduate of Otterbein University where he earned a bachelor's degree in education while majoring in physical education. He is a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association (OHSFCA) and was selected to the NFL/NCAA Coaches Academy in 2020.

Moore and his wife, Ann, have two children, Aidan and Addison.
