SPRINGFIELD — The Wittenberg football team was picked to finish third in the North Coast Athletic Conference in the 2024 Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released on Thursday.

The Tigers received one first-place vote and 61 points.

Three-time defending conference champion DePauw was picked as the favorite with six of the nine first-place votes and 77 points. Wabash was second with one first-place vote and 68 points. Denison received the remaining first-place vote and was picked fourth with 59 points.

Wittenberg finished 7-3 overall and tied for second in the NCAC with a 6-2 mark in 2023.

Led by third-year head coach Jim Collins, the Tigers open their 2024 season on Sept. 7 at Baldwin Wallace. Following an off week, they return to action by opening NCAC play at Hiram on Sept. 21.

Wittenberg's 2024 home opener is scheduled for Sept. 28 against Howard Payne.
