Mitchell Griffiths joined the Wittenberg University baseball staff prior to the 2022-23 season as the Recruiting Coordinator and Pitching Coach. After two seasons in that position, Griffiths took over as the team's interim head coach in January 2025.
Griffiths first year with the Tigers turned out to be a record-breaking campaign. A 32-10 Season and 14-2 in NCAC play, the team set records in wins in a season (32), Win Streak (15) as well as strikeouts in a season for the pitching staff (289).
Griffiths came to Wittenberg after spending two seasons at NCAA Division II Coker University (S.C). Before that, Griffiths had spent one season on staff at Adrian College. During the COVID-19 shortened season at Adrian the Pitchers carried a 3.26 ERA with 91 Strikeouts compared to just 46 BBs in 77.1 Innings. Griffiths also coached 2021 LA Angels 13th Round Draft Pick Mo Hanley during his tenure at Adrian. While on staff at Coker, Griffiths helped the Cobra’s set the program set the team record for single-season strikeouts by more than 70 K’s. Griffiths holds both Rapsodo and Driveline program certifications.
He spent one year at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio, as the graduate assistant coach helping with the NCAA Division II pitching staff.
A Columbus, Ohio native, Griffiths played for four years at NCAA Division II Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, W.V. He was a sophomore member of the 2016 Great Midwest Athletic Conference championship team that qualified for the Division II Midwest Regional, as A-B ended up with a 31-21 overall record and a 14-8 mark in the GMAC. He graduated as the program's career record holder in pitching appearances at 56. He finished with a 4-7 career won-lost record with five saves.
He holds a degree in business administration from A-B, and a Master of Business Administration from Walsh.
