SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg seniors Matt Moore (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) and Conor O'Malley (Avon, Ohio/St. Edward's), junior Ben Seibert (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) and sophomores Mikey Eickhoff (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Alex Nemunaitis (Ottawa Hills, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) were named to the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division III Baseball Academic All-District Team for the 2024 season, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To earn CSC Academic All-District distinction, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in class standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 while meeting athletic participation requirements. In baseball, pitchers must have pitched at least 25 innings or appear in at least 17 games, and non-pitchers must have competed in 90% or started at least 66% of the team's total games.
Moore, an analytics major, boasts a 3.64 GPA and started 41 of the Tigers' 43 games in 2024 en route to earning All-North Coast Athletic Conference Third Team honors. Now a three-time All-NCAC selection, he posted a .342 batting average with 53 hits, four doubles, three home runs, 45 RBIs and 26 runs this season. He ranked second on the team and ninth in the NCAC in RBIs.
In 134 career games at Wittenberg, Moore has a .345 batting average with 164 hits, 24 doubles, seven home runs, 127 RBIs and 71 runs. He ranks third in program history in RBIs.
O'Malley, a finance major, boasts a 3.57 GPA and was Wittenberg's 2024 male recipient of the NCAC Scholar-Athlete Award in addition to being named to the All-NCAC First Team for the second straight season. In 39 starts this year, he posted a .361 batting average with 57 hits, 11 doubles, seven home runs, 27 RBIs, 45 runs and three steals while recording a .975 fielding percentage in the outfield. He led the team in hits and runs, ranked second in home runs and was tied for third in doubles. He tied for sixth in the NCAC in runs and tied for fifth in home runs.
In 128 career games at Wittenberg, O'Malley has a .349 batting average with 164 hits, 36 doubles, 18 home runs, 123 RBIs, 125 runs and 14 steals. He ranks fourth in program history in home runs and RBIs, is tied for ninth in doubles and is 10th in runs.
Seibert, a marketing major, boasts a 3.52 GPA and started 40 games in 2024, posting a .335 batting average with 55 hits, 12 doubles, three home runs, 30 RBIs, 36 runs and five steals while recording a .946 fielding percentage in the outfield. He led the team in steals, ranked second in doubles and was named to the All-NCAC Tournament Team.
In 104 career games, Seibert has a .351 batting average with 121 hits, 22 doubles, one triple, four home runs, 72 RBIs, 91 runs and 22 steals.
Eickhoff, a management major, boasts a 3.98 GPA and made 13 appearances with three starts on the pitching mound for the Tigers in 2024. He finished the season with a 3-3 record, 7.14 ERA and 14 strikeouts over 29 innings.
Nemunaitis, a molecular biology major, boasts a 3.98 GPA and started 41 games for the Tigers in 2024 en route to earning numerous accolades. He was named a 64 Analytics All-American and earned recognition on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 7 Third Team, D3baseball.com All-Region 7 Third Team and All-NCAC Second Team. He posted a .386 batting average with 56 hits, 13 doubles, six home runs, 40 RBIs and 41 runs while recording a .925 fielding percentage at third base. Nemunaitis led the team in batting average and doubles, tied for second in hits and ranked third in home runs, RBIs and runs. He ranked eighth in the NCAC in batting average and tied for 10th in doubles.
In 59 career games at Wittenberg, Nemunaitis has a .374 batting average with 58 hits, 14 doubles, six home runs, 40 RBIs and 45 runs.
The Tigers posted a 26-17 overall record this season and won a share of the NCAC regular-season championship with a 13-3 mark in league play under eighth-year head coach Brian McGee. This year marked the team's first NCAC regular-season title in program history and its first conference title since winning the Ohio Athletic Conference in 1968. The Tigers earned the top seed for the NCAC Tournament and went on to finish as the runner-up while breaking the program's all-time single-season records for home runs (41) and pitching strikeouts (305).
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, Second and Third Team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on July 2.
