Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Baseball team made it to the 30-win mark for the first time in program history with a sweep of the Kenyon Owls in the final series of the regular season. The Tigers took game one with an exciting late-innings comeback win, 5-3. Wittenberg secured the sweep in game two with the shutout win against the Owls, 5-0.

Kenyon was the first to strike, putting up two runs in the top of the second inning, adding their final run in the seventh. Wittenberg found their offensive spark in the bottom of the seventh inning, cutting into the Kenyon lead and scoring their first run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Wittenberg would use a four run eighth inning to overtake the Owls, capped off with a three-run home run from Chase Whisner.

Once the Wittenberg offense was rolling, there was no slowing down the Tiger production. Luke Thomas opened the second game with a leadoff home run, down the line in right.

After five scoreless innings by both sides, the Wittenberg defense would continue to hold Kenyon scoreless through the seventh. The Tiger offense would ignite a spark in the bottom of the seventh for a four-run inning, which started with a base loaded walk drawn by Conor O'Malley. After a Kenyon wild pitch allowed the second Tiger run of the inning to cross home. Rocco Royer smacked a double to right center, plating the final two Wittenberg runs of the game.

Nick Cunningham would take the mound to start game one, going, 4.2 innings and allowing three hits with two strikeouts. Charlie Schafer would come on for 4.1 innings of relief with five hits allowed and three strikeouts, earning his second win of the season.

Michael Osmond picked up his sixth win of the season, improving to 6-1. Osmond allowed just four hits in seven innings of work with 11 strikeouts. For the second time this season, Osmond tallied double-digit strikeouts in a game, taking his season total up to 70. Osmond is now eight strikeouts shy of matching the single-season record of 78, held by Rocky Alt set in 1970.
