Tigers Steal Road Win At Ohio Northern

Ada, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Baseball team picked up their 14th win in a row, improving to 25-6, with a 17-15 road win over the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University.

The Tigers tallied 13 hits on the night, posting crooked numbers in each of the first five innings before adding one more in the seventh.

Wittenberg opened the game putting up back-to-back two-run efforts in the first two innings, taking an early 4-2 advantage. The Tigers expanded their lead with a four-run third, before ONU added two runs in the bottom half of the inning, making it 8-4.

The Tigers used a six-run fifth inning, extending their lead 16-5 through five innings of action.

Ohio Northern sparked their offense in the late innings of the game, scoring 10 runs from the sixth through the ninth innings.

Andrew Rust took the ball to start the game, earning his third win of the season and improving to 3-0. With five innings pitched, Rust allowed 10 hits and five runs with one strikeout. Wittenberg saw appearances on the mound from Tommy Chilicki, Tyler Defibaugh, Alex Nemunaitis and Kyle Mahon. Charlie Schafer secured the save in the ninth inning, recording one strikeout.
