
Oberlin, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Baseball team improved their win-streak to nine games with a road sweep of the Yeomen from Oberlin College. Wittenberg secured a pair of NCAC wins, taking game one, 5-3. The Tigers would run away with a game two victory, 12-2, securing the sweep of the Yeomen.
Wittenberg trailed scored first in the top half of the second before Oberlin matched their one run in the bottom half of the inning. The Yeomen took their only lead of the day in the bottom half of the fifth inning of game one, plating two runs, giving Oberlin the 3-1 advantage. Wittenberg responded with a three-run sixth inning, before adding one more in the eighth, while holding Oberlin scoreless.
Matt Moore and Luke Thomas tallied three hits apiece in the opener. Michael Bronowski and Conor O'Malley adding two to the Tiger total. O'Malley smacked a pair of doubles, putting him atop the team leaderboard with 12 on the season.
Nick Cunningham tallied his fourth win on the mound for the Tigers with six innings pitched. Cunningham allowed five hits while striking out three Oberlin batters. Charlie Schafer secured his second save of the season, with three innings pitched and three hits allowed against 11 batters faced.
Thomas added two more hits, including three RBI to his total in the game two win for the Tigers. Three Tigers tallied multiple hits in the series finale, including Thomas. Ben Seibert added a pair of base hits and two stole bases in game two. Maxwell Monachino smacked a pair of doubles while driving in two runs for the Tigers.
Michael Osmond posted his fourth win of the season from the mound, improving to 4-0. With seven innings pitched, Osmond fanned four Oberlin batters, allowing five hits and two runs. Nate Floyd and Alex Nemunaitis would shutdown the Yeomen over the final two innings.
