Tiger Offense Unloads Against Bluffton

Bluffton, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Baseball team scored 20-plus runs for the fourth time under Head Coach Brian McGee and the most in his tenure at the helm of the program, with a 27-7 win over Bluffton University. Wittenberg tallied 22 hits on the evening, launching three home runs, seven doubles and a triple, scoring multiple runs in each inning but the final two.

Luke Thomas went 4 for 4 from the plate which included a home run a double with three RBI and three runs scored. Ian Ash added a 3 for 5 effort from the plate, coming off NCAC Athlete of the Week honors. Ash cracked his third home run of the season, driving in five runs on the night. Ben Seibert posted a 2 for 4 night at the plate, hitting his first homer of the season, a three-RBI bomb in the fourth inning. Seibert would go on to add a double to his tally, finishing the night with six-RBI.

Conor O'Malley was the second Tiger to tally four hits on the night, including a pair of doubles driving in five runs with four runs scored. Chase Whisner and Matt Moore would each finish with multiple hits on the evening. Whisner legged out his first triple of the season and Moore added to the double count for the Tigers.

The Tiger pitching staff accumulated nine strikeouts one the night, with Andrew Rust leading the count at five. Rust secured the win on the mound for the Tigers, with five innings pitched and seven hits allowed. Tommy Chilicki and Colin Maynard combined for the final two innings, each allowing one hit with two strikeouts to their credit.
