Coach McGee Earns Career Win in Game One Sweep of Hiram

Springfield, OH – With a sweep of the Terriers from Hiram College, defeating the Terriers in game on 11-1, Wittenberg Tiger Head Coach Brian McGee earned his 300th career win and his 113th while at Wittenberg.

Wittenberg secured the sweep of Hiram with a second game win, 18-3. Wittenberg smashed 15 hits in game one and 21 hits in game two. The Tigers came up just one hit shy of matching their season-high total of 22, which came in the second game of a doubleheader against Waynesburg.

Chase Whisner continues his hot hitting streak, collecting hits in six of his last seven games. Whisner opened the Hiram series with a 4 for 4 day, including three doubles with two RBI and two runs scored. The senior completed the day with two more hits, one RBI and one run scored.

Matt Moore, Michael Bronowski, Ian Ash and Parker Gryskevich each posted multiple hits to get the day started. Ash legged out the only other extra-base hit in game one, with a triple to center in the eighth.

Austin Luther earned the win in game one, with his third on the season. Luther went 6.2 innings pitched, tossing five innings with one run allowed and seven strikeouts. Nick Cunningham earned the save with 1.1 innings pitched, with one strikeout.

Gryskevich added a 4 for 4 effort in the second game against the Terriers, smacking two doubles and a home run, with five RBI. Ben Seibert finished the second game 2 for 2 with two runs scored. 

Conor O'Malley drove in three runs with three hits adding three runs scored.

Michael Osmond secured his second win of the season with five innings pitched, allowing four hits and striking out five.

Wittenberg will return to action on Tuesday, April 4, traveling to  Heidelberg for a 4:00 PM single game with the Student Princes.
