Tiger Baseball Celebrates Senior Day With Win

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Baseball team celebrated Senior Day with a sweep of the Allegheny College Gators. The Tigers opened the day with a 9-5 win, before closing out the series with a 10-0, eight-inning win. Before the first pitch, the Tigers celebrated senior's Jared Burick, Mitchell Davis, Tyler Defibaugh, Beau Foster, Michael Osmond,  Matthew Shanor, Cole Weaver and Logan Wiggenhorn  for their continued commitment and dedication to the Wittenberg Tiger Baseball program and Wittenberg University.

The Tigers tallied 25 hits against the Gators, launching six longballs over the fence at Carleton Davidson Stadium. Jack Siefert tattooed a pair of homers in game one, taking his homerun total up six on the season. Chase Whisner would go deep in both games against the Gators, taking his homerun total up four. Luke Thomas and Burick recorded their first career homer's with Thomas going deep in game one. Burick added a solo shot to left in game two.

Nick Cunningham picked up his second win of the season on the mound for the Tigers, with 8.1 innings pitched in game one. Cunningham allowed three runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts. Justin Maynard and Joe Horoszko would come one to close the door, getting the final two outs.

Austin Luther shutout the Allegheny offense in game two, on his way to picking up his fourth win of the season. Luther tallied three strikeouts and only seven hits allowed in eight innings.

The Tigers move to 24-9 on the season and 11-3 in North Coast Athletic Conference action.

Wittenberg will play their final regular season home games of the season on Wednesday, May 4, hosting the College of Wooster. First pitch from Carleton Davidson Stadium is set for 12:00 pm.
