Tigers Take Down Little Giants In 11 Innings

Crawfordsville, IN – The Wittenberg Tiger Baseball team waited out the rain and bad weather and played some extra-innings, picking up 5-2, 11-inning win over the Little Giants from Wabash College. After the home team put up two runs in the first inning, the Tiger pitching held the Little Giants scoreless for 10 consecutive innings. Justin Maynard secured the win for the Tigers, working out of a bases loaded jam in the 10th inning. Maynard picked up his fifth win of the year, with three innings of work, striking out three and just one hit allowed.

Jared Burick got the final offensive inning started for the Tigers with a two-out single through the left side, and stealing second base. Matt Moore broke the 2-2 tie, with a single to center, scoring Burick and igniting a Tiger offensive rally. Jack Siefert produced an RBI double to left center, extending the Wittenberg lead, 4-2. Conor O'Malley capped of the Tiger scoring rally with a shot down the line in right, scoring Siefert. Moore would get the scoring started for the Tigers in the third inning, forcing a Wabash error at third base and allowing Dylan Jackson to score. In the fifth inning, Moore came in clutch with an RBI single, driving in Gabe Stacy to tie the game at 2-2.

Michael Osmond got the start on the mound, putting in seven innings of work with eight strikeouts.

UP NEXT

Wittenberg will return to action on Thursday, April 7, hosting the Mount St. Joseph University Lions. The single 9-inning game is set for 9:00 pm from Carleton Davidson Stadium.
