Tigers Fall On The Road At #1 Marietta

Marietta, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger baseball team traveled to Marietta College to take on d3baseball.com No. 1 Pioneers in a non-conference showdown. After nine-innings of action from southeastern Ohio, the Tigers were unable to push a run across, falling by a final score of 5-0.

The Pioneers put up two runs in the bottom of the second, maintaining the 2-0 advantage through the top of the fifth. Wittenberg was able to tally three hits against Marietta, with a leadoff double by Dylan Jackson in the third, giving the Wittenberg baseball team their first scoring opportunity of the day. After a scoreless fourth and fifth innings by the Tigers, Marietta was able to add to their lead, plating two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Wittenberg found some life in the seventh inning, with two runners aboard, though the Pioneers stifled the Tiger's scoring opportunity.

Wittenberg will return to action at home on Tuesday, March 29 hosting Earlham College for a single nine-inning game. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm from Carleton-Davidson Stadium.
