Senior Bats Break Out In Tiger Win Over Earlham

Earlham, IN – The Wittenberg Tiger baseball team returned to the dirt diamond, making their way back north after playing five games in six days from the Sunshine State. The Tigers defeated the Quakers of Earlham College, 3-2, putting up a single run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning of action. Senior's Gabe Stacy and Mason Davis launched a pair of solo home runs to ignite the Tiger offense. Fellow senior Jack Siefert drove in the final Tiger run of the night with a double to left center, brining around Connor O'Malley. Stacy closed out the night, going 3 for 5 from the plate, as five different Tigers tallied a hit on the evening.

After three scoreless innings, Davis broke the 0-0 tie on the scoreboard with his first homer of the season with a shot over the left-center field fence. Leading off the fifth, Stacy connected for his second bomb of the season putting it over the same part of the wall as Davis. After a leadoff walk by O'Malley got things rolling in the sixth, Siefert found the gap in left center for his first exter-base hit of the season.

Joe Horoszko started on the mound for Wittenberg, going five innings for the quality start, picking up his second win of the season and moving to 2-0. Austin Luther and Cole Weaver each made appearances in relief for the Tiger pitching staff. Charlie Schafer closed out the final two innings, earning his first collegiate save, with just three hits allowed.

The Tiger's will make their home debut on Saturday and Sunday, March 19-20 hosting the Alma College Scots. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m./Noon, both days.
