Port Charlotte, Florida – Wittenberg freshman right-hander Nate Floyd impressed on the mound in his college debut on Tuesday night at the Snowbird Classic as he picked up his first-career win in the Tigers' 7-5 victory over Mitchell College (CT) at Centennial Park.

After a scoreless opening frame, junior Jared Burick drove in the first run of the game on a sharp double to left center in the second inning. After Mitchell pushed runs across in both the third and fourth innings to take a narrow 2-1 lead, the Tigers regained the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double to right center off the bat of senior Mason Davis and a run scoring single through the right side from sophomore Luke Thomas.

The Tigers plated three more runs in the fifth inning with run scoring hits from sophomore Ian Ash and Davis, before pushing their final run across in the sixth inning.

While Floyd earned the win on the mound after striking out eight and allowing just two earned runs on three hits, the junior duo of Nick Cunningham and Justin Maynard kept the Mitchell bats at bay over the final four innings to secure the win for the Tigers. Maynard, who earned his first save of the year in the win, entered the game with the bases loaded in the eighth inning, but he wasn't fazed as he struck out Mitchell's Lelo Martinez to halt the Mariners late inning comeback bid.

Davis paced the Tigers at the plate in the win by going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and one run scored, while Burick and Thomas each finished the game with two hits and one RBI.
