Tigers Suffer Two Road Losses At Wabash

Crawfordsville, IN - Wittenberg University baseball suffered a pair of tough losses on the road at Wabash on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers dropped game one to the Little Giants 9-5, falling in game two by a final score of 6-3. Gabe Stacy led the Tigers from the plate, going 2 for 3 in game two with a pair of doubles. Stacy added a hit and a stolen base in the opener against the Little Giants.

Game Breakdown

Wittenberg was first to strike, plating their first run in the first inning as Jack Hollinshead drove in Stacy on the sacrifice fly. Wabash responded with four runs of their own in the bottom of the second inning. The Tigers cut into the Wabash advantage in the third, as Hollinshead brought home Chase Whisner with another sacrifice fly for the second Tiger run. The Little Giants added three more to their tally in the bottom of the third. The Tigers responded in the fourth, as Whisner drew the bases-loaded walk, cutting the Wabash lead down to 7-3. Trailing 9-3 after the fifth inning, Wittenberg took advantage of the Wabash wild pitch, scoring their fourth run of the game. Whisner drove in the final Wittenberg run with a hard groundball to the right side, scoring Gage Carpenter.

Wabash took the early lead in game two, putting up a run in the third inning and adding four more to their lead in the fifth. Wittenberg got on the board in the top of the seventh, starting with a two-RBI single through the left side from Matt Moore. A single down the first baseline by Patrick Kenny scored Dylan Jackson for the final Wittenberg run.

Wittenberg will return to action on Saturday, April 24, celebrating Senior Day, taking on the Little Giants from Wabash College. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM with Senior Day events beginning at 11:30 am.
