Tanner Griggs picked up his second win of the season, moving to 2-0, tossing six shutout innings and fanning four with seven hits allowed. Patrick Kenny finished the day with three hits, including two runs scored and one run batted in.

Game Breakdown

Wittenberg posted runs in each of the first five innings of action, scoring three in the first, two in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth. Stacy was the first Tiger to cross the plate, as Mason Davis reached on the fielder's choice, putting Wittenberg ahead 1-0. Later in the inning, Tanner Boros laced a shot up the middle, bringing around two runs to plate Ryan Probst and Kenny. Kenny would come back around to score in the second inning, off the hard-hit ball to center field from Jack Hollinshead. Heads up baserunning by Hollinshead put the fifth Wittenberg run, as the Tigers took advantage of the USMMA wild pitch. A base clearing triple by Stacy in the bottom of the third brought home Chase Whisner and Joe Horoszko. Kenny tacked on the eighth Tiger run with a single up the middle to bring home Stacy later in the inning. Horoszko blasted his first collegiate homer over the left-field fence, scoring Boros and pushing Wittenberg ahead 10-0. The US Merchant Marines would find a spark late, plating one run in the seventh and two in the eighth, cutting the Wittenberg lead to 11-1. Jake Hutchins would bring home the final Tiger run of the day, pushing a single through the left side to bring home Horoszko.
