Tigers Split with Big Red on Day One of NCAC Road Weekend

GRANVILLE, Ohio—Wittenberg split with the Big Red of Denison on Saturday, as the Tigers fell in game one 12-2, but immerged victorious 7-3 in game two. The Tigers move to 10-19 and 5-9 overall on the year, as the Tigers and Big Red do battle again in Granville on Sunday.

  • Matt Baker recorded Wittenberg's other RBI in the shortened contest, singling to center field on a play where freshman shortstop Ryan Probst scored.

  • Wittenberg exploded for four runs in the top of the first inning in game two, as Patrick Kenny got the ball rolling after reaching on an error, allowing Baker to score.
  • Kenny later went on to score, as senior outfielder Dalton Boucher singled up the middle as the Tigers led 2-0.
  • Brad Malott put the finishing touches on the Tiger's first inning, as the sophomore tripled to right field, scoring Jace Barga and Boucher.

  • The Tigers plated their sixth run on a Denison balk, as Malott touched home on the illegal play.

  • Josh Darang was the star on the mound for Wittenberg in game two, as the freshman southpaw logged six innings of six hit baseball, striking out four and surrendering two earned runs.
