SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Wittenberg played the high-octane offense that is Thomas More close on Tuesday, taking the Saints to extra-innings, before falling 9-7. The Tigers battled back to knot the game up at 7-7 in the seventh inning, but could not fend off a TMC comeback in the top of the tenth inning.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
Bottom 1st
- Timmy Bates got the ball rolling for the Tigers, reaching on a fielder's choice as Matt Baker crossed home after leading the game off with a walk.
Bottom 2nd
- Again scoring on a fielder's choice were the Tigers, as freshman shortstop Ryan Probst reached, as Jace Barga crossed home.
Bottom 3rd
- Bates remained locked in at the plate for Wittenberg, sending a shot down the left field line, scoring the Tiger's designated-hitter, Patrick Kenny.
Bottom 4th
- Tiger third-basemen Brad Malott laced a shot back up the box into center-field, scoring Barga who had earlier reached on an error.
- With the bases loaded, Kenny took one for the team, as his hit by pitch turned into an RBI, scoring freshman backstop Adam Mays.
- On a wild play by the Saints right side of the infield, Dalton Boucher reached on an error, as Baker and Malott both came around to score.
