Wittenberg Baseball Loses to In-State Opponent Mt. St. Joseph

WINTER PARK, Florida—Wittenberg baseball fell to Mt. St. Joseph in Florida on Thursday. The Tiger's struggled to get things going off of Mt. St. Joe's starting pitcher, and found themselves playing behind for most of the game. In the end, Wittenberg fell 13-3 in the seven-inning game.  The Tigers were led by freshman outfielder Matt Baker (Tuscon, Arizona/Ironwood Ridge) who went two for four at the plate as the Tigers leadoff hitter. Wittenberg moves to 2-3 on the young season, as the team looks to complete its spring break trip on a high-note with games against Albion and Penn State-Altoona remaining.

GAME NOTES

  • Senior Corey Farnbauch (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) plated the only two for Wittenberg, as the third-basemen battled through a long at bat to score Timmy Bates (Westerville, Ohio/South) and Dalton Boucher (Granville, Ohio/Granville).
  • Wittenberg walked four times, struck out three, and left five runners on base in the seven inning affair.
  • The Tiger's pitching staff surrendered three walks while racking up five strikeouts in Thursday's loss.
