CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - The Wittenberg Tigers battled back from an early deficit to tie host Thomas More at 5-5 in the fifth inning. The Saints responded with nine runs over the next three innings to pull away for a 14-6 non-conference victory.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Tigers and dropped Wittenberg to 8-17 overall on the 2014 season. Thomas More improved to 15-10.

Six different Tigers saw action on the mound in the game, but just one escaped unscathed. Junior Mike Burgher (Birmingham, Mich./Seaholm) tossed a scoreless fifth inning after Wittenberg had tied the game, but freshman Dalton Boucher (Granville, Ohio/Granville) allowed four runs - although just one earned - in the sixth inning to take the loss.

Offensively, Wittenberg was led by freshman Cal Slusarz (Chesterland, Ohio/West Geauga), who had two hits and scored two runs, and freshman Josh Kaplan (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook South), who went 2-for-3 with three runs batted in. Junior Zac Wilson (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) added two hits, a run, an RBI and a stolen base from his lead-off spot.

Wittenberg returns to action over the weekend with a four-game series at Ohio Wesleyan. First pitch is at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18.
