DELAWARE, Ohio — The Wittenberg baseball team dropped a pair of games to Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday by scores of 5-2 and 9-2, giving the series to the Bishops, 1-3. The Tigers fell to 19-18 overall and 5-11 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

With NCAC action wrapped up, the Tigers have missed the cut for the league tournament, which takes the top two teams in each division. DePauw has clinched the West Division title and Ohio Wesleyan secured the second West slot with the series win this weekend.

The East Division will be represented by Kenyon, who have clinched the East's top seed but not the outright division title, and either Wooster or Allegheny, tied at 9-3, who will meet for a four-game weekend series next weekend at Wooster to battle for the second spot.

In Delaware, the Tigers were limited to five hits in game one, though the roster's one RBI came on a sacrifice fly by freshman Brandon Reaman (Dayton, Ohio/Northmont) in the Tigers' two-run fifth. Sophomore Cam Chambers (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville) also scored on a fielding error.

Notching a hit in the game were junior Grant Goodwin (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson), junior Graham Wolff (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest), sophomore Brandon Jordan (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca), sophomore Tyler Grau (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) and sophomore Alex Lochard (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney).

Senior Andy Sharek (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) took the loss to fall to 2-2 on the season, allowing 10 Ohio Wesleyan hits in six innings of work.

The Tiger lineup was more productive in game two, with both Reaman and Goodwin going 3-for-4 at the plate. Freshman Zac Wilson (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton)went 2-for-4, and Jordan and senior Matt Hampp (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) each produced one base hit to make it a 10-hit game for the team.

Jordan's hit pushed across Grant Goodwin in the third inning, while sophomoreDavid Moore (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) scored in the second inning on a double play.

On the mound, freshman Stu Haley (Chicago, Ill./New Trier) took the six-inning loss, while Lochard and senior Brad Prewitt (Westerville, Ohio/South) each pitched an inning of relief.

The Tigers wrap up the 2012 campaign with back-to-back non-conference games at Heidelberg at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, and at home versus Ohio Northern the next day at 6 p.m.
