SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Needing a special weekend to continue aspirations of an NCAC postseason berth, the Tigers fired off an early 4-3 victory over Wabash, before dropping game two in a 16-7 loss. On a weekend where the Tigers honored the seniors, it was fourth-year standoutPatrick Williams (Plainfield, Ohio/Plainfield) who continued to etch his name into the Tiger record books.
Williams enjoyed a spectacular first contest that included a two-run home run that gave the Red & White a brief lead before scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Classmate J.T. Thompson (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont) added a pair of hits as well in the winning effort.
In relief, sophomore Manny Rodriguez (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett)threw a scoreless inning to pick up the win.
After sterling pitching in the opener, the Tigers struggled to find outs in the second contest, unable to use a Thompson three-RBI double to spark a rally.
NCAC West Division play wraps up on Sunday, April 26 at 12 p.m. when the Tigers visit Ohio Wesleyan for a pair of contests.
