Wittenberg Athletics Winter Sports Competition Update

Wittenberg University is excited to announce a return to intercollegiate athletic competition in February for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor track & field and men's volleyball.


"Our winter sport student-athletes have been waiting and preparing close to a year to get back into competition," said Brian Agler Vice President and Director of Athletics & Recreation. "Our spring sport student-athletes have been waiting and preparing for over a year and a half to get back into competition. We want to make sure we do everything possible to safely provide this opportunity for them."

The Wittenberg men's and women's basketball teams will play a condensed schedule against select North Coast Athletic Conference opponents. The men's team open its season on Friday, Feb. 5, at the College of Wooster, with the home opener set for Saturday, Feb. 6 also against, the Fighting Scots. Wittenberg men's basketball will meet up with Wabash, Ohio Wesleyan and DePauw, closing out the season against Denison in the first weekend of March.

The women's basketball team opens the season hosting Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, Feb. 12. The Tigers make the return trip to OWU on Saturday, Feb. 13 to finish out their first series of the 2021 campaign. The Tigers will also face-off against DePauw and Wooster before wrapping up the season on Saturday, March 6 with a trip to Denison.

The Wittenberg indoor track & field teams will host four competition dates beginning on Saturday, Feb. 13 with a Tri meet, as the Tigers are set to take on DePauw University and Wabash College to open the season. Wittenberg is also set to host Ohio Wesleyan, Wooster and closes out the season with a showdown against Denison on March 6.

Men's Volleyball will open their season on Saturday, Feb. 6 making their return to the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League, hosting Wabash College in the season opener. The Tigers will also host Baldwin Wallace, Mount St. Joseph and Olivet. Wittenberg is slated to hit the road to face Adrian, Fontbonne, Mount Union and Trine.

Wittenberg swimming & diving has two road meets on the books for 2021, traveling to the College of Wooster on Saturday, Feb. 13. The Tigers close out the season on the road taking on Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday, March 20.

Spectators will not be permitted at any indoor venues, as of today (2/2). This policy could change throughout the semester. Only necessary game day personnel will be admitted.  Live video streams of home athletic contests will be provided by the Tiger Sports Network.
