Bob Hamilton not only starred on the basketball floor but he later coached Tiger teams to great heights. As a two-year starter under coaches Ray Mears and Eldon Miller, he helped Wittenberg to the NCAA College Division championship in 1961 and runner-up finish in 1963. He later succeeded Miller as head coach and led the Tigers to the up spot in the 1976 NCAA Divsion III tournament. In six years he had a (.758) record with four OAC titles and three OAC tournament crowns. In was selected Division III and Ohio Coach of the Year. Hamilton, who left Wittenberg in 1976 to become head coach at the U.S. Naval Academy, is now a resident of Worthington and is a financial planner.
