Richard Caton stood tall on the athletic field of competition in an era when no prisoners were taken during the heat of battle. He excelled in three sports over a long collegiate career. After transferring from Miami of Ohio, Caton earned three letters each in football, basketball and baseball and was a mainstay on the Tigers' 1940 undefeated grid team. He retired from the Kettering Public Schools in 1980 where he was an elementary school principal for 24 years.
