Don Henderson confirms the old saying "good things happen to good people." Henderson was selected Wittenberg's Athlete of the Year in 1952-53. He served as team captain in both football and baseball as a senior. He earned a total of eight letters in three sports  adding basketball to the mix. His football accomplishments are many. He averaged 7.4 yards per carry and set records for longest run from scrimmage (90 yards) and punt return (85 yards). As a basebal player he led the team in batting with a .411 average on the 1951 Ohio Conference championship team. Henderson later became head basketball coach at Springfield North High School where he won 235 games. He has since been inducted into the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame and Miami Valley Baseball Hall of Fame.
