Tigers Take Down Trine in Pivotal MCVL Match

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Volleyball team defeated the Trine University Thunder, 3-1 (27-25, 26-28, 25-20, 25-23), in a key MCVL match from Pam Evans Smith Arena on Friday evening. The Tiger offense was firing on all cylinders, smashing a .226 hitting-percentage as a team on the night. The Tigers held the Thunder to just .154 on the opposite attacking end.

Tom Supan led the Tiger attack with 23 kills on 50 attack attempts, posting a .320 hitting percentage, with only seven errors. Supan added 12 digs and two block assists with an assist and a service ace to his tally.

Eli Halverson and Michael Yurk each added double-digit kills on the night for the Tiger offense. Halverson tallied 17 kills on 54 total swings. Halverson finished with a .204 clip, adding 12 digs, getting up on three blocks. Yurk finished with 11 kills, posting a .304 kill marker on 23 swing attempts with four errors.

Dominic Smith, Jake Downs and Andrew Diaz de Padilla each tallied 18 digs in the back and forth battle on the night.

Diaz de Padilla led the Tiger assist count with 53 of Wittenberg's 60 on the night.
