WOOSTER, OH - Wittenberg Women's Soccer suffered a 2-0 loss to The College of Wooster on the road Wednesday, Oct. 22.
It appeared to be an evenly matched contest between the two teams, with plenty of back-and-forth play in both possession and shot attempts. The Tigers held their ground defensively and pushed forward in transition, keeping the game balanced. However, momentum shifted just 58 seconds after halftime when Wooster capitalized on a defensive lapse to take the lead. Wooster struck again less than two minutes later, doubling their advantage and putting Wittenberg in a difficult position.
Statistically, the two teams remained close, with Wittenberg trailing by just one shot overall. Despite matching Wooster's intensity and finding space in key moments, the Tigers were unable to convert their chances into goals.
With the loss, Wittenberg remains in second place in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) standings behind John Carroll. The Tigers currently sit at 2-1-2 in conference play, earning eight points, as they look to regroup and finish strong in their final two regular season matches against Denison and John Carroll.
