Tigers Play To 1-1 Draw Against Wooster

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg women's soccer team hosted the College of Wooster Fighting Scots in a rematch of the 2021 North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament title game, the 90-minute bout ended in a 1-1 draw. Wittenberg was able to strike first, with Amy Bidwill drawing the penalty opportunity in the 24th minute. The home side controlled the pace throughout the first 45-minutes of play, tallying seven shots and earning two corner kicks.

The action picked up in the second half, with the Scots starting to find their form. The Scots tallied the equalizing goal seven-minutes into the second half at the 52nd minute. Wittenberg kept the pressure up, adding 10 more shots to their tally, placing four on frame throughout the game. The Tigers earned three corner kicks throughout the final 45-minutes.

Katie Wisniewski faced seven shots on goal, making six saves with 90-minutes in the net.

Before the game, the Wittenberg women's soccer program will take time to honor alumnae Erika Rich '15. In March 2019 Erika was diagnosed with HER2+ Stage IV Breast Cancer at the age of 25. After her diagnosis her and her sister Jessica Co-Founded the Bloom Foundation Gives, a nonprofit that would raise awareness, FUNds and provide resources for breast cancer patients and survivors to help enhance their overall wellness and quality of life. Their goal was to make cancer fun! The Board of Directors for the Foundation is filled with all Wittenberg alums.
