Tigers Edge St. John Fisher 4-3

TUSCON, Arizona— Wittenberg got back in the win column with a one-run victory over St. John Fisher on Tuesday. The Tigers hung on to take down SJF 4-3 after taking a 4-1 lead into the sixth inning. Wittenberg did all of their damage in the third and fifth innings, as three RBI doubles did SJF in. Chelsea Zang went the distance for the Tigers, as the senior hurler was as dominant as ever in the one-run win.

OFFENSIVE NOTES:  Trailing 1-0 in the third innings, the Tigers took a 2-1 lead after a Abby Curnutte RBI double and Zang RBI single. The fifth inning saw the Tiger's lead grow to 4-1, as Zang recorded an RBI double of her own, followed up by a RBI double by sophomore backstop Cassidy Rowe. The Tiger's four runs would hold in the end, as Wittenberg recorded four extra base hits in the win. Zang not only got the win on the mound but recorded two RBI's for the Tigers in the win.

DEFENSIVE NOTES:  Zang scattered six hits over her seven innings of work, striking out a season high five batters while issuing two free passes. Zang pitched around her walks, and only surrendered one earned run as the Tiger's defense committed three errors in the game. Of SJF's five hits off of Zang, four were singles as the lone extra base hit came as a double. SJF plated two unearned runs in the sixth to cut the lead to 4-3, but Zang slammed the door in the sixth and the seventh to close things out for Wittenberg.

UP NEXT: Wittenberg is back in action against Coe College at 1:30 PM.
