Tiger Softball Travels to Alma for NCAA Regional Action
Wittenberg will make the trek to Michigan to square off against OAC champions, Heidelberg in game one of the NCAA Regional
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Wittenberg Tiger softball will travel to Scots Park on the campus of Alma College in Michigan to partake in one of the 16 regionals for the 2016 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament. The 62 team field will compete for the national championship Thursday, May 12 through Sunday, May 15.
Wittenberg will take on Heidelberg University in Game 1 of the regional on Friday, May 13 at 1:00PM. The Tigers come in with a 32-7-1 record in 2016, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after running away with the NCAC tournament for the second time in school history.
Heidelberg will be in regional action for the second straight season after winning the OAC, and posting a record of 28-11 in 2016. The regional will begin on Friday, May 13, and will feature a double-elimination format, with the champion being crowned on Sunday, May 15. The winner of the Alma Regional advances to the Super Regional round on May 20-21 and will face the winner of the Berry Regional, which includes Berry, Piedmont, Birmingham-Southern and Emory.
Tickets for the regional will be sold on a daily basis and priced as follows: $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and veterans and $3 for students and children under the age of 12. Children age 2 and under are admitted free with a paying adult, per NCAA rules.
