Softball Wins Two More, Off to 8-0 Start in 2016
Wittenberg softball kept rolling Friday, beating Moravian 5-0 and Ursinus 8-3 to move to one of the best starts to date.

CLERMONT, Florida—The Wittenberg University softball team continued its hot start to the 2016 season with two more wins to improve to 8-0. Wittenberg defeated Moravian 5-0 and Ursinus 8-3 on Friday as Abby Haab (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) and Chelsea Zang (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) each picked up another win on the mound for the Tigers. The Tigers 8-0 start is the best start for a Tiger team in the past 17 seasons. Wittenberg takes its 8-0 record into Saturday, when the Tigers conclude their Florida spring break trip against Bethel University and Smith College.
MORAVIAN NOTES
- All nine of Wittenberg's starters recorded a hit in the 5-0 victory.
- Katy Baumgartner (Fishers, Indiana/Cathedral) recorded Wittenberg's only extra-base hit of the game, and also added an RBI.
- On the mound, Zang was dominant, recording 10 strikeouts over seven innings, while scattering five hits.
- The Tiger offense struck-out seven times in the game, while only leaving six runners on base.
URSINUS NOTES
- Lauren Buelow (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) managed to record three-hits in the 8-3 win, while Wittenberg slugged 15 as a team.
- Abby Baker (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) busted things open for the Tigers, as the junior slugged a two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- On the mound, Haab struck out seven and allowed three earned-runs in the victory.
- Eight different Tigers recorded hits against Ursinus, while six of those players recorded multi-hit games.
UP NEXT
- Wittenberg and their 8-0 record return to action against Bethel tomorrow morning at 11:00AM, and then again against Smith at 3:00PM.
