Wittenberg Cross Country Senior Salutes

Wittenberg Cross Country Senior Salutes

Wittenberg University Athletics is celebrating the Senior classes from each of the fall sports program that missed out on their Senior Day experience. Today we highlight the two members of the Wittenberg Cross Country team and hear about what they loved most about being a Wittenberg Tiger and more.

Miles Caine

What is your favorite/best memory as a student-athlete at Wittenberg?

My favorite memories are when Charles Rhodeheffer took me out for a 15-mile long run without telling me that it was 15 miles. Another favorite was coming back to campus and streaking the hollow after running a personal best at the conference meet.

What do you love most about being a Wittenberg Tiger?

The family aspect

Outside of Athletics, who is the one campus staff or faculty member that had the most impact on you during your time at Wittenberg?

Dr. Thisthlthwaite, I would say that he's had the most impact on me because he's demonstrated a new level of understanding and thoughtfulness in the exercise science field which i will carry with me for the rest of my life

What is one piece of advice you would like to leave for the underclassmen or any recruits looking to become a part of your team in the future?

Embrace the culture and strive to make your own way

Why should a High School Prospect choose Wittenberg?

We have some of the best facilities around and the culture to match it. Be a part of building something that will become a staple.

After graduation, how will you embrace the school's motto "Having Light, We Pass it on to Others"?

I will do my best to uplift others both near and abroad

What is your favorite memory from being a student-athlete at Wittenberg?

Winning our first meet at Wilmington last fall. It was a moment I saw how much the team I came onto my freshman year had transformed into a strong and competitive group of women who are truly passionate about running.

What do you love most about being a Wittenberg Tiger?

I love being able to do what I love every day alongside some of my best friends.

Outside of Athletics, who is the one campus staff or faculty member that had the most impact on you during your time at Wittenberg?

Dr. Andrews for coming to a rainy, cold track meet and staying the whole time to cheer for all of his students. He truly cares for his students inside and outside of the classroom.

What is one piece of advice you would like to leave for the underclassmen or any recruits looking to become a part of your team in the future?

Work hard but never be too hard on yourself. View each day as a gift and opportunity to do what you love and always take your wet sports bra off after a run!

Why should a High School Prospect choose Wittenberg?

The people! Witt has given me lifelong friends and amazing memories. The campus in the fall is pretty spectacular too.

After graduation, how will you embrace the school's motto "Having Light, We Pass it on to Others"?

I hope to attend grad school and potentially use my remaining athletic eligibility to keep running competitively!
