Tiger Swimming Closes Out Season At NCAC Championships

Granville, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Swim & Dive program competed at the 2023 North Coast Athletic Conference Championships over the course of four days, hosted at Denison University. The Wittenberg women's team earned an eighth-place finish earning 105 points. The Tiger men's team secured 321 points over the four-day event for a ninth-place finish.

Mackenzie Schuld earned a B-Final qualification, posting a prelim time of 5:21.47 in the 500-yard freestyle event. Schuld secured a 14th place finish in the finals, touching the wall in a time of 5:18.52. Schuld added a 16th place finish in the 400-yard IM, shaving nearly two and a half seconds off her prelim time. Schuld went from a 4:53.47 to a 4:51.00 in the finals. Schuld added and an A-Final appearance in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:17.75, securing a ninth-place finish.

Addy Payne posted a 21st place finish in the 500-yard final, stopping the clock in a time of 5:48.87 in the C-Final. Payne cut nearly a full minute off her 1650 freestyle time, improving from a 21:31.10 prelim time to a 20:46.31 finals time. Payne captured a 15th place finish in the B-Final of the 200-yard butterfly, stopping the clock in a time of 2:32.04.

McKenna Clark earned a C-Final appearance in the 100 IM, posting a 19th place finish with a time of 1:10.00.

Zach Parkman captured a 16th place finish in the men's 200-yard IM, posting a 1:59.79 prelim time. Parkman returned to the pool in the B-Final, touching the wall in a final time of 1:58.64. Parkman added another B-Final appearance on night three, taking 14th place in the 400-IM finals. Shaving nearly a second and a half, Parkman clocked a final's time of 4:16.53. Parkman earned a spot in the 200-yard butterfly A-Final, securing a ninth-place finish in a time of 1:55.15.

Mason Steen posted a 23rd place finish in the men's 500-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 4:58.87. Steen added a 20th place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking a final time of 1:01.42. Steen secured a 17th place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking a final time of 2:18.57 in the B-Final.

Quaid O'Brien took off over ten seconds in his 1650 freestyle, posting a top 20 finish, coming in at 19th with a time of 18:11.34. Doug Heighton was close behind finishing in a time of 19:01.35.

The Tiger men's 200-yard freestyle relay earned a ninth-place finish, with a team consisting of Owen Gabel, Ryan Heighton, Jon Wasky and Drew Vincent. Wittenberg posted a time of 1:37.71.

The final Wittenberg 400-yard relay consisting of Steen, Gabel, Parkman and Vincent, posted a time of 3:22.50.
