Springfield, OH - On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, Wittenberg Men's Soccer was unable to keep pace with 11th-ranked Denison in a 7-0 loss. The loss marks the second in a row for Wittenberg as the Tigers dropped to 3-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play.
Wittenberg struggled to match Denison's offensive productivity, as the Big Red scored four first-half goals to take control of the game before halftime. The Tigers displayed a solid effort in the second half, but with 15 minutes to play, Denison resumed its offensive onslaught, scoring three late second half goals to extend the lead to 7-0.
Freshman Anthony Hernandez (Columbus, OH/Worthington Kilbourne) made his second start in goal for Witt, recording five saves in the match.
Wittenberg recorded six shots on the afternoon, with Kees Ciric (Loveland, OH/Loveland), Jackson Miller (Westerville, OH/South), and Kaden Bryan (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) all getting on frame.
Things don't get any easier for the Tigers, as they next travel to Gambier, Ohio, on Wednesday, October 23, to face second-ranked Kenyon, the defending NCAC champion. The match is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start.
