Global Awareness
As a Tiger scholar-athlete, team means everything regardless of points on the scoreboard. The Tiger GAME Plan sees to it that teams compete in a way that encourages Global thinking and awareness with a multicultural emphasis.
What does this mean for Wittenberg scholar-athletes:
- They will have access to opportunities for global/national competition.
- They will meet fellow athletes from diverse geographic and multicultural backgrounds.
- Their resumes will reflect global understanding.
- They will bring the world to Wittenberg and Wittenberg to the world.
Academics & Athletics
Using a unique university-wide support system created with students' entire well-being in mind, the Tiger GAME Plan helps scholar-athletes achieve in Academics, Athletics and beyond.
What does this mean for scholar-athletes:
- They will gain invaluable professional development through our Career Services Office, including internship opportunities.
- They will enjoy access to varied support services focusing on math, writing, oral communication and foreign languages.
- Their coach will provide on-site tutoring to strengthen study skills, as well as test preparation and time-management techniques.
- Their efforts academically and athletically will be publicized and promoted locally, regionally and nationally.
Mentoring
By engaging former Wittenberg athletes across all 23 varsity sports, the plan creates a new one-of-a-kind personalized Mentoring program for today's Tiger scholar-athletes.
What does this mean for the Tiger athletes:
- They will have a personal connection with someone who can open up doors of opportunity in their chosen career.
- They will have access to a broader network of alumni across all professions, thereby extending their personal and professional success post-graduation.
- Their mentor will become their friend with whom they can learn about Wittenberg traditions and from whom they can glean insight on what makes a Wittenberg scholar-athlete stand out in sports and in life.
Engagement
Consistent with Wittenberg's Engaged learning environment and the university's mission of giving back, each player/team will participate in meaningful, character-building service projects and campus activities that allow them to stretch beyond themselves and make a real difference in the lives of others.
What does this mean for Tiger scholar-athletes:
- They will develop critical leadership skills through participation in any of Wittenberg's 125 campus organizations.
- They will have countless options to go beyond their comfort zone through unique excursions close to home or in locations never once considered.
- They will realize the difference they can make by giving of themselves.
- They will change lives through community service right here in Springfield, abroad or even in their own hometown.
