
Wilmington, OH - On a beautiful fall Friday afternoon, the Wittenberg women's cross country team continued its string of impressive performances as the Tigers scored 65 points to take home first place at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic, hosted by Wilmington College. Wittenberg narrowly eclipsed Franciscan College, which finished second with 66 points. The next closest competitor was Thomas More, which placed third with 141 points.
Wittenberg was paced by junior Emma Hawk (Marion, OH/River Valley), who earned a third-place finish with a time of 18:35.8. Teammate Megan Keys (Dublin, OH/Jerome) also earned a top-10 finish for the Tigers as she placed fifth overall, recording a time of 18:38.9.
Junior Mackenzie Kelly (Altoona, PA/Altoona Area) placed 11th in the meet with a time of 19:15.7, while sophomore Alex Couch (Howard, OH/Mount Vernon) also placed in the top 20, finishing 17th with a time of 19:32.7.
The Tiger freshmen had notable showings on the afternoon, as three of them rounded out the scoring for Wittenberg. Emily Zmuda (Columbus, OH/Hilliard Davidson) placed 37th with a time of 20:12.8, Abigail Davison (Reynoldsburg, OH/Reynoldsburg) finished 50th with a time of 20: 35.7, and Riley Colestock (London, OH/London) finished 67th with a time of 21:02.5.
The Tigers return to action in two weeks as they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, in hopes of winning their third straight conference title as they compete at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships on Sunday, November 3.
