Sophomores Lead in Annual Wooster Invitational

Wooster, OH- The Tigers opened up the 2022 season on the road in the non-scoring Wooster Invitational. Wittenberg went up against Oberlin, Baldwin Wallace, Lorain Community College, Wooster, Ohio Wesleyan, Denison, Kenyon, Walsh, Wooster, Cleveland State, and Cuyahoga Community College.

In the year previous, Wittenberg looked to seniors Ryan Zimmerman and Lauren Welker for the packs best times. Stepping up this year were sophomores Conor Kolka and Megan Keys.

The Men- Kolka, who helped led the Tigers in the 2021 season finished in third place with a time of 21:31.3 in the shortened men's 4 mile race. Coming in as Wittenberg's number two runner of the day was Peter Caine at 22:50.4. Zayden Taylor made his debut as a Tiger in the number three spot with a time of 23:33.7 followed by Adam Arndt at 23:35.4. Crossing the line as the red & white's number five runner was Baylee Jost in his debut with a time of 23:52.5.

The Women- Keys, who was the Tigers consistent top five runner in the 2021 season took a sixth place overall finish with a time of 16:12.3 in the shortened women's 4K race. Coming in as Wittenberg's number two was Sydney Khosla with a 10th place finish and time of 16:19.0. making her debut for the Tigers in 11th place was Ella Webster with a time of 16:29.6. The red & white's number four runner was Corin Turkovich, crossing the line at 16:43.2. Senior, Emma Scritchfield was Wittenberg's number five runner with a time of 17:11.8.

Up Next: The Tigers will host the Wittenberg Invitational at the Clark County Fairgrounds on September 10th.
