Women's Cross Country at the 10th Annual Friendship Invitational at Cedarville University

Wittenberg's men's and women's cross country teams both ran well at the 10th Annual Friendship Invitational at Cedarville University on Saturday. The men's squad finished 10th in a crowded field, while the women's team wound up eighth.

Wittenberg's men's and women's cross country teams both ran well at the 10th Annual Friendship Invitational at Cedarville University on Saturday. The men's squad finished 10th in a crowded field, while the women's team wound up eighth.

For the men, several runners ran season-best times and most of the returning letterwinners are already approaching their 1999 season-bests. Sophomore Nick Dewald (Mansfield, Ohio/Senior) paced the team with a 17th-place finish in the 8K race in 26:58.

Junior Sarah Weide (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) topped the Tiger women in the event, finishing 13th in the 5K race in 19:53. Sophomore Abi Gerstle (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) also ran well, crossing the line in 20:08, good for 18th place.
