Men's Volleyball Falls To MSJ

Springfield, OH – Wittenberg men's volleyball returned to action on Saturday afternoon from the 1929 Fieldhouse, hosting the Lions of Mount St. Joseph University for two matches. The Tigers fell in the first match 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-16). Wittenberg returned to the court for match two against the Lions, falling to MSJ 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-13). Russ Burke led the Tiger attack on the day, putting down 15 kills between the two matches. Cameron Menini tallied 13 digs on the afternoon, with multiple Tigers leading the defensive effort upfront.

Match One

The first match of the day saw the Tigers hit .071 as a team, putting down 21 kills on 85 attack attempts. Burke logged a .147 kill percentage through the first match, tallying 10 kills on 34 attack attempts with five errors. Burke also added two blocks two his credit up front. Gabriel Lamar finished with a team-high .333 hitting percentage, putting down two kills on six swings without an error. Aidan Hauter led the Tigers with 15 assists, going along with two kills on nine swings, adding one block. The Tigers put together their highest hitting percentage of the match in the first set, logging eight kills on 31 total attacks.

Match Two

Wittenberg struggled to get the offense going in the second match, as MSJ logged a .320 hitting percentage in the opening set of the match. The Tigers rallied in the second set of the match, putting together their best offensive production, logging a .136 attacking percentage with six kills on 22 total attacks and just three errors. Hauter led the Tiger attacking threat in the second match with a team-high .429 attacking percentage, logging three kills on seven attacks with no errors. Hauter would also finish with a team-high 10 assists in the match.
