Wittenberg University men's soccer standouts Matt Borland, class of 2009 from Kettering, Ohio, Shane Price, class of 2009 from Minford, Ohio, and Justin Jenkins, class of 2009 from Dublin, Ohio, have claimed their final awards of their illustrious collegiate careers after earning 2008 All-Ohio honors from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association.

Wittenberg University women's soccer standouts Suzanne Medwid, class of 2009 from Columbus, Ohio, Jamie Mack, class of 2009 from Rochester, NY, Corey Shubitowski, class of 2009 from Columbus, Ohio, and Emily Murray, class of 2010 from Petoskey, Mich., and men's soccer standouts Jay Knox, class of 2009 from Hilliard, Ohio, and Michael Condon, class of 2010 from Powell, Ohio, have earned Academic All-Ohio honors from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association.

Wittenberg University men's soccer standouts Matt Borland, class of 2009 from Kettering, Ohio, and Shane Price, class of 2009 from Minford, Ohio, have put the finishing touches on their record-breaking collegiate careers with postseason awards from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

One of the most successful fall sports seasons in Wittenberg history was capped by a tremendous haul of postseason awards from the North Coast Athletic Conference.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Seven players from North Coast Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champion Ohio Wesleyan and five from NCAC Tournament runner-up Wittenberg were named to the 2008 All-NCAC men's soccer squad, after voting by the conference's 10 head coaches.

Leading 2-1 late in their NCAA Division III Tournament first round contest, Wittenberg could not hold on as they fell 3-2 to Carroll (Wisc.) in a match held at Wheaton College (Ill.). Making their first NCAA appearance since 1996, the Tigers struck with goals from Matt Borland (Kettering, Ohio/Alter) and Brian Glenn (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy) in the second half, but a pair of late Pioneer goals reversed the final result.

After a 12-year absence, the Wittenberg University men's soccer team has earned the opportunity to play in the 2008 NCAA Division III Tournament.

DELAWARE, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers did what Head Coach Steve Dawson always asks - they left it all on the field. Unfortunately, the Tigers came up just short of the ultimate goal, settling for a 2-2 tie with defending North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) champion Ohio Wesleyan before losing a penalty kick shootout, 4-3.

Senior forward Shane Price (Minford, Ohio/Minford) made sure that the Tigers' 2008 season would last at least one more match with his late-game heroics in a 1-0 win over the Hiram Terriers in their North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament semifinal meeting. His goal in the 84th minute was enough to propel the Tigers past the same squad that had spoiled their Senior Day only four days earlier.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Wittenberg University soccer standouts Jay Knox, class of 2009 from Gahanna, Ohio, and Jamie Mack, class of 2009 from Rochester, N.Y., have been recognized for the combination of their athletic and academic accomplishments with second- and third-team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division All-District IV honors, respectively.

The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead, but it would not hold up against a feisty Hiram College Terrier squad as Wittenberg fell in overtime 4-3 on Senior Night.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers knew that preseason North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) favorite Ohio Wesleyan would provide a stern test, even after the best start in school history. The Battling Bishops, an NCAA Division III Tournament semifinalist a year ago, indeed proved too tough as the Tigers, ranked No. 5 in the nation and No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region coming into the game, dropped a hard-fought 2-0 decision.

GRANVILLE, Ohio — With the Wittenberg Tigers missing some of their best players, they faced a big challenge at Denison. The Tigers proved their depth of talent and leadership to claim another key three points in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) standings with a 2-1 victory.

After a tough loss on Saturday at Kenyon, the self-proclaimed Tiger-Penguins looked to turn things back in the right direction. They did just that with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Earlham.

Away games in college sports are always tough for the young athletes. The advantage of waking up in your own bed, eating in your own cafeteria, and getting your head straight in your home locker room is a tremendous advantage and the young athletes of the Wittenberg soccer team realized that in a 4-1 loss at Kenyon.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers put together a solid all-around performance to blow past the visiting Wabash Little Giants, 4-0, and remain undefeated.
