Aber wins medalist honors to lead No. 15 Men's Golf to win at Denison Spring Shootout

GRANVILLE — Senior J.F. Aber (Pittsburgh, Pa./Sewickley Academy) earned tournament medalist honors to lead the No. 15 Wittenberg men's golf team to victory at the one-round Denison Spring Shootout on Sunday to close out its regular-season schedule.
The Basics
- Venue: Denison Golf Club - Granville, Ohio, Par 71, Yardage: 6,559
- Denison served as the host school for the tournament.
- Wittenberg is ranked No. 15 nationally in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek NCAA Division III Coaches Poll, which was released on April 12, and is No. 14 in the latest NCAA Division III Scoreboard rankings, powered by Clippd, which was released April 24.
- Wittenberg's B team also competed.
- Joining the Wittenberg A and B teams in the 11-team field were Ohio Wesleyan, Wheeling, Denison and A and B teams from Kenyon, Hiram and Wooster. Kenyon is ranked No. 21 in the Bushnell/Golfweek poll and No. 22 in the Scoreboard rankings.
The Tournament
- Wittenberg claimed the top two spots in the 11-team field. The Tigers' A team shot a 2-under-par 282 to win the tournament by 11 strokes over the Wittenberg B team, which finished second with a 9-over-par 293. Kenyon finished third with an 11-over-par 295.
- Aber won medalist honors in the 67-man field by two strokes with a 5-under-par 66. He posted six birdies and just one bogey in his round.
- Senior Nicklaus Pidgeon (Homeworth, Ohio/West Branch) and Kenyon's Jonathan Oakes tied for second with a 3-under-par 68. Pidgeon recorded an eagle on the par-5 12th hole.
- All five members of the Wittenberg A team posted a top-10 finish. Sophomore Mark Sulek (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) tied for seventh with a 2-over-par 73, and juniors Jake Yarbrough (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) and Joshua Wright (Wadsworth, Ohio/Akron Hoban) were among eight golfers tied for 10th with a 4-over-par 75.
- Four of the five members of the Wittenberg B team also placed inside the top 10. Junior Ryan Miller (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) led the B team with an even-par 71 to finish fourth. Freshman Owen Cotterman (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) tied for fifth with a 1-over-par 72, and junior Austin Georger (Appleton, Wis./West) and senior Grant Klepitsch (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) were among the eight-way tie for 10th with a 4-over-par 75. Freshman Caleb Domitrovich (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) tied for 46th with an 11-over-par 82.
- Playing as individuals, freshman Owen Williams (Plymouth, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) tied for 24th with a 7-over-par 78, and sophomore David Walterhouse (Statham, Ga./Bethlehem Christian Academy) tied for 46th with an 11-over-par 82.
